We do not blindly serve God. Our reward is plain. The only question is; who will receive the prize? The answer over and over again is the one that overcomes. Who is the one that overcomes? The one that remains faithful and runs to win! (Matthew 24:12-14 and 1 Corinthians 9:24) We know that the prize consists of eternal life, (John 3:16), but will there be more?

Revelation 3:14 (-22)
“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation.”
The Laodicean church is the hardest church to reach of all churches and so many fall into this category. They are not this way or that - neither on fire nor cold, they are satisfied and full of where they are in the world and in their understanding of spiritual things. Their own view of their position is far from the judgment of Jesus.

Revelation 3:1 (-6)
“To the angel of the church in Sardis write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.”
The “alive but dead” church. . . There are no limitations here; both the more orthodox and the more liberal churches can be here.
Revelation 3:7 (-13)
“To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.”
Here we have a great description of the average faithful and believing church of our day, faithful but with little power. They have an open door to heaven but go in so rarely.

Revelation 2:12 (- 17) “To the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged sword.”
Pergamum had used the world to reach the world. Using the world and the elements thereof to reach the world gives the gods of the world a place in the church, (the perceived church), not the other way around. To add to this they had left the Apostolic order as given to the Church by Jesus Himself (Ephesians 4) and therefore had separated themselves from the authority of God! Still in this there were those that were faithful to the “rest” of God and the church as a whole had stood firm in the face of persecution.
Revelation 2:18 (- 29) “To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze.”
There is so much to say about this church and yet there is such sadness with it all. They are a dynamic church and yet they have allowed such a spirit of deception to control them and all in the name of higher understanding! How do you enter into “higher understanding”? You turn away from those that teach the Word of God and turn to higher education and to special revelation and knowledge.* In following higher knowledge and special revelation you leave the right interpretation of the Word (2 Peter 1:20-21) and the true structure of the Body of Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
